The LOC2 provides provides occupancy detection for two independent staging yard throats, and connects directly to the SYC2 Staging Yard Controller. This project was written up in the June 1999 Model Railroader magazine.
A pocket laser pointer beams light onto mirrors, reflecting several times across a yard throat and into a photocell. The laser and mirrors can be positioned to provide complete coverage of the throat.
